Solar PV and Solar HW Systems
Clean and Health Check-up Information Sheet
A Clean and Health Check-Up (C&HC) is recommended every two years. Apart from cleaning the panels, this helps in painting the good health of the other hardware attached to the system.
Be it a Solar PV (electricity) System or the Solar Hot Water System; we have the skills and team to look after your system.

Solar PV Panels consist of many smaller cells. Even if some of the cells are covered with dust or bird droppings etc, the efficiency of the system will drop down. In some cases, the impact can be worsened.
Did you know that when solar panels are placed on rooftops with a gradual slope, the module frames may collect rainwater and create a small pool? Also, when the water evaporates, it can leave behind dust and debris which causes unwanted shade, ultimately reducing the energy production from the solar cells.

Depending on the roof slope, solar panels may be self-cleaning during rainy weather. However, a layer of dust, bird droppings, and lichens may accumulate over time, causing a reduction in the amount of energy produced by the solar power system. It is important to note that climbing on the roof to clean solar panels or using high-pressure cleaners or chemical products on the surface of the solar panels is not recommended. Additionally, all electrical components, including cables, connectors, generator junction boxes, etc., must remain dry wherever possible.

So, why clean solar panels?
When light penetrates the surface of solar cells, solar panels are able to generate power. The greater the amount of light that falls on the panel, the higher the electricity production it can achieve.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the amazing benefits that solar panel cleaning brings for a while now. It’s incredible to see the difference it can make to efficiency! We’ve seen sizeable increases of up to 30% on agricultural sites, up to 60% on industrial and commercial sites, and even up to 21% on residential arrays. And it’s not just us: our clients have sent us readings that prove it, and operations & maintenance departments of solar companies we’ve worked with have confirmed it too. It’s great to know that something as simple as solar panel cleaning can have such a big impact!
The same goes with Solar Hot Water Collector-Panels and Evacuated Tubes
When it comes to flat plate collector panels, the water flows through pipes that are protected by a thick glass from the top. These panels need to be cleaned from the outside and require some careful attention to the other connections. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Our Clean and Health Check process includes servicing the full system including checking your Hot Water Storage Tank, so your Solar Hot Water System stays up and running smoothly.
